I don’t think Guyana is in a place that we could set an example for the rest of our CARICOM counterparts. We do have a far way to go. When we look at the struggles of the huge gay movement in the Global North in terms of the gay revolution it requires a lot of work. And if we are looking to give equal rights to the LGBT community, then a lot more has to be done. And we can only do that with the support of the government. And if the government cannot support that movement, then we are not going to get anywhere. We just can’t get anywhere or move anywhere farther if we are not going to get that support. And I think right now, I don’t see that support is coming from the government.
